Northwest Persia
Circa 1870
54 x 98 cm (21.5 x 38.5 in.)

Colours: coral pink, maroon, apricot, light blue, dark blue, blue-green, light yellow, dark brown, ivory (9).
Condition: three old, small areas of restitching otherwise untouched.
Notes: I have come to familiarize myself with this distinct group of weavings through the ‘Shahsavan Weavings Group’ on facebook for which I am grateful to Raoul Tschebull and Peter William Hansen. This group is characterized by a signature style which is exemplified here, by a fine weave and yet by a sturdy handle, with the warps being entirely in cotton.
