A Collection of Exquisite Small Persian Tribal Weavings

Pile khorjin
Qashqai Confederacy
Southern Persia
Circa 1900
65 x 32 cm (25.5 x 12.5 in.)

Knot count: 16 H x 14 V = 224 kpsi.
Colours: rust red, coral pink, maroon, orangy yellow, ivory (5).
Condition: excellent considering it is a half of a double saddle bag. Full silky pile, original sides and ends, including closures.
Notes: I always happy to find opened half khorjins when there is a striking contrast between front and back. I can simultaneously enjoy the two facets of Persian woven tribal art without the guilt feeling of having opened it myself. Also coming from another of those rogues, probably related to the Qashqai Confederacy, inhabiting a very specific area located in the southern part of England not too far from Stonehenge.
Provenance: Craig Bale, Bath.
