Pile khorjin face
Northwest Persia/Southern Caucasus
46 x 52 cm (18 x 20.5 in.)
|| 10 V x 20 H = 200 kpsi.
|| orange, peach, cochineal purple, light blue, dark blue, light yellow, brown, ivory (8).
|| missing slightly at both ends, some corrosion to browns, otherwise full pile with original selvedges.
|| The pattern seems to be inspired by flatweaves as there are no colour contours. The silky wool and the fine, elongated knots are what I associate with weavings from the Karabagh area.
