Aubusson carpets from the periods following Restoration distinguish themselves by a more delicate use of colour, centered around pastel shades, and by the employment of architectural motifs often inspired by the ceiling decorations of the palaces from the Louis XIV-Louis XVI period. This sumptuous example shows a decor of neoclassical taste, adorned with a round medallion containing motifs of Roman origin on an ivory background, with architectural volutes of shaded tonalities similar to a period fresco.
