a rug with the "octagon-rosette" pattern
cm 150 x 285 (4'11" x 9'4")
|| asymmetrical knot on a cotton foundation
|| A fascinating rug with a rare and unusual design, decorated by an allover repeat of the so-called "octagon-rosette" pattern, it being one of the typologies characteristic of seventeenth and eighteenth century carpets of the Ningxia region. The graphical composition combined with the limited palette impart to this piece a particularly minimalist feel, making it very much in line with current interior design trends.
