A rare and unusual French Art Deco rug features an abstract grid pattern over an ivory background. The artistic avant-garde movements happening in Paris strongly influenced rugs of this period, as a close interconnection existed between the Fine and decorative arts. Artists who designed rugs, such as Ivan da Silva Bruhns, associated closely with painters like Picasso and Braque, who strongly influenced their work.
