A monumental Bakhshaish carpet displays an unusual light blue background, featuring a large, central taupe-coloured cartouche flanked by salmon pink quarter medallions in the corners. Geometric motifs, some characteristic of the neighboring Shahsavan tribes, pepper both the field and spandrels. The entire composition exudes a primitive quality typically associated with tribal rugs, rather than the more formal Persianate motifs often seen in Heriz region rugs. This carpet stands as a true masterpiece of Persian tribal and village textile art.
