Antique Distressed Ningxia Narrow Runner Rug

This antique distressed Ningxia narrow runner rug is an exquisitely elegant early Temple runner from the Ningxia region in northwest China, commissioned in the early 18th century for a Buddhist monastery in Tibet. The pattern consists of seven squares, each serving as a meditation mat for Tibetan monks. Each square features a cloud collar roundel typical of the Ming period, influencing the iconography of the Kangxi (1662-1722) period and subsequent 18th-century dynasties.

In unrestored condition, it showcases a refined palette reminiscent of ceramics from the same period. This runner is a perfect accent for a room needing its narrow format and willing to accommodate an ancient weaving of immense elegance.
